Captain Jack's 3rd Birthday Matey

We celebrated Jackson's 3rd birthday on Sunday with a little family pool party at my mom's house. I found some cute pirate party invitations and favors at Target, so that was the theme of the party. I use the term theme very loosely because I didn't really go all out with pirates besides the invites and favors.

The party was perfectly small with just our parents, siblings and cousins.  Mr. cooked an amazing barbeque lunch with smoked ribs, homemade mac & cheese and baked beans.  This pregnant momma was in pure heaven! Something finally tasted good for the first time in weeks!

Jackson had a great time swimming with his grandpas and uncles and caught bugs and sharks with his cousins.  It was so fun to watch them all play together and enjoy each others company.

I'm pretty sure Jackson's favorite part of the party was digging in to his cake! He had been talking about his chocolate ice cream cake for a week.  This month is a birthday packed time for our family, so Jackson was nice enough to share his cake with his two aunts and two of his uncles as well!

Jackson loved all of his birthday gifts and is looking forward to starting up another session of swim lessons with his favorite coach.  And we are all excited for the swing set my parents are going to get for our backyard...well except for Mr. who is dreading mowing around it and watching his perfect grass die under the slide:) My dad and step-dad think they have figured out a way to change up the swing set we like, so that it will fit better in our yard.  Fingers crossed that it will work!

It's hard to believe that this little Captain Jack will be three in less than 2 weeks - argh!

What's Up With the Wilson's

Please excuse the terribly lame blog post title, but I couldn't think of anything better to sum up this post.

What's up with the lack of posts and where have we been the past month may have been a more accurate title!

To catch y'all up -

The week that we found out we were pregnant with baby 2.0, my best guy friend and his family flew down from St. Louis for the weekend. Their visit had been planned for months and we were so stinking excited to have the "other Wilson's" visit for Festival weekend!

We showed them a traditional Louisiana weekend, full of good food, good beer, and great music. A good part of our days were also spent splashing in the pool and catching sun rays while our boys napped.

Unfortunately, I came down with an awful sinus infection/cold on the last night of their stay. Being newly pregnant and not able to down bottles of medication, I felt pretty miserable...which continued on for the next two weeks straight.

I even attended an amazing conference in Chicago during that time and thought I was going to die every time I had to take the elevator. I was sure that the yucky feeling was the onset of morning sickness, but the cold has since passed and I am left feeling a little better. Not 100%, but I am better!

While I was in Chicago, Jackson graduated from swim lessons. I was sick that I missed it, but we've been swimming like little fish every weekend since. He still needs work, but I'm sure by the end of the summer we will have a full blown swimmer on our hands.

My youngest step-brother attended his senior prom and graduated from high school last night.  It seems like yesterday he was graduating from elementary school and now he's off to LSU!

We are celebrating Jackson's 3rd birthday this weekend with our family.  I have gone back and forth about whether or not to have a big party, but decided to just do something small with our family.  My dad is coming down for the weekend with my sister and her family, so the weekend is going to be argh perfect matey! 

Jackson is so excited for his cake and has specifically asked for a lion, an elephant and a swing set...we're set on all, but the swing set!  No lie, Jackson woke up this morning and went outside looking for his new swing and was a little mad at his daddy for not building it yet.  So, I'm on a momma mission to find one that will fit on our backyard space. 

Other news on the baby 2.0 front - my first appointment with my ob/gyn is next Thursday, May 31st.  I've feeling okay...very, very tired, but I will certainly not complain!  My belly is starting to get a little, tiny pouch towards the end of the day.  I can still button my jeans, so I'm happy about that:) At this point with Jackson, I jumped up two sizes in pants and was wearing maternity clothes.

On Sunday morning, Jackson and I were laying in bed when my phone rang at 8:45AM.  The number looked familiar, but I couldn't remember why.  I answered, and to my surprise, it was my OB.  Seriously, he called my cell phone Sunday morning just to tell me congrats and ask how I was feeling! I feel so amazingly blessed to have such a wonderful support team that wants nothing more then for us to have a healthy baby 2.0.  He said that he was going through his charts and noticed I called to schedule our first appointment...so he called!

Introducing Baby Wilson 2.0

Mr. and I got to meet our second child this morning and hear it's sweet heart, beating away at 115bpm.

Our little peanut is 7mm, not even a centimeter long, yet it has a beating heart.

Amazing.

God is so good!

I officially graduated from the RE and am ready to continue care with my ob/gyn, which is bittersweet. These amazing nurses and doctors do so much to get you pregnant and then send you on your way! Of course, they request photos and updates, but that's it.

As we were leaving the office this morning, I pointed out Jackson's baby picture on the wall. I cannot believe that in 9 short months, we'll be adding yet another photo to their wall.

Jackson's Almost 3!

I'm really not sure how this is possible, but my big boy is just one month shy of turning T-H-R-E-E! Where or where has the time gone?!?

I know that I am more than biased, but my goodness, Jackson is one sweet boy.  He constantly has us smiling or laughing about something he's said, like "you see my big eyes".  I want to cherish these moments and times forever!

I haven't updated y'all in a while about Jackson's health, which is a great thing because he has been healthy! Ever since finishing his three month dose of heavy duty antibiotics, he's been great.  I tried to wean him off of his nightly breathing treatments, but that landed us in the urgent care with a full-blown asthma attack.  I learned a big lesson that morning and we haven't skipped a night since or left the house without his inhaler! But, I have him under control and we're on a good path.

Jackson is a big boy, weighing in at almost 36lbs. and 36" tall.  He either eats everything in sight or nothing at all.  I've learned to except the fact that he really will eat when he's hungry.  Jackson doesn't know a stranger and really loves his friends.  He plays and he plays hard, non-stop.  He knows his right from his left, his ABCs, can count to 20, and is well on his way to swimming like a fish!

Jackson really isn't scared of anything, except for the pretend monsters that seem to live all over our house.  I think he just does this to make us laugh though, it's pretty hysterical.

And my goodness, Jackson has more facial expressions than a painted clown or something.  He never ceases to amaze us with his humor and joy.

We still watch Buzz Lightyear, Lion King or some form of dinosaur or animal show every night as a part of his routine.

Some of my favorite things that he says or does are:
Don't leave me (when he snuggles in bed with us in the morning and it's time to get ready for work)
You see my big eyes
I wanna butter and jelly - and he proceeds to bring you the bread, peanut butter and jelly, one-by-one
Hold you, please
You're silly!
Is the baby still cookin?!?
I wanna talk to the baby!
Is the baby crying?!? (when I don't feel good)
I love you!
Be sweet today (he repeats this back to me, sometimes we both need the reminder)
Look, look!!!
No phone, talk to me momma!
Let's dance!
It's Friday, yay!
Oh wow, that's real cool
Hey, I'm almost 3!

I could go on and on, and I may come back and update this list over the next month...time, please slow down!
