Easter 2013

>> Tuesday, May 28, 2013

We celebrated Easter twice this year, once with my sister and family and then again on Easter Sunday.  We hosted my parents and Mr's family for lunch and crawfish boil.  We had a great afternoon visiting and playing in the backyard.

I couldn't help but hold Mattie with such awe, as it was just last Easter that we were praying for a successful, second cycle.  It's amazing how good our God is and what a difference one short year can be.  I spent many nights praying, crying and begging for my sweet girl.

I digress.

I think these pictures are worth a thousand words, at least to me.  Jackson slept late and awoke to a path of eggs from his room to his basket in the family room.  I think he was a little confused by the whole thing or just too tired to really get it;)

Nothing like a little momma torture with bunny ears.  Easter was a beautiful day, minus an afternoon storm that sent everyone running! Jackson enjoyed playing with his cousin and his "pet" crawfish more than anything!

March 2013

Well this just may be a first, a post about our St. Patrick's Day, the month of March and Easter, all at the end of May...and let's just get real crazy and say that we celebrated Easter with the luck of the Irish this year! Things have been a little busy and our life is in the midst of a huge change.  Please bear with me while I catch y'all up with the Wilson's!

My sister and her crew came down to spend her Spring Break with us.  Her break fell a little early this year, so she was actually here in the middle of March, a couple weeks before Easter.  My mom had a little talk with the Easter Bunny and he sent the kids Easter baskets with the Leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day:) Loli never misses an opportunity to create special memories with her grand-babies!

Miss Mattie Jayne dressed in Amelia's St. Patrick's Day onesie for her first St. Patty's Day.  My little loves make me feel so lucky (and blessed) to be their Momma.

We successfully crammed as much family time and fun into our week together as possible.  We enjoyed some pool time, ate and drank way too much, dyed and hunted eggs, and even took part in some adult fun while the kiddos had a slumber party with Loli & Pop.

We were also able to take the kids to a Helicopter Egg drop the day before my sister had to head back to St. Louis.  The weather was super windy and misted a bit, so the helicopter didn't get to fly over as planned.  Amelia and Jackson were still able to hunt eggs, but it was the day after Jackson broke his arm so he wasn't too concerned about hunting eggs.  After the hunt we took all of the kids to see the Easter bunny, literally minuted before the Urgent Care called us back to cast his arm!

It's amazing to look back at these photos to see how much all four kids have grown since we were last together.  The whole crew is down again to kick off Summer and celebrate Jackson's 4th birthday.  ::GASP:: my first born is almost four!!!

NoLa Family Weekend

>> Tuesday, May 14, 2013

About two months ago probably closer to three, we took the kids to New Orleans for the weekend.  Mr.'s firm hosted their annual family night at the Race tracks and we decided to make a little getaway out of it.  The timing couldn't have been better, or worse.  I had just gone back to work full-time and both the Mr. and I were getting sick.  A rainy weekend in the city, with no house cleaning or laundry was pretty amazing.  A whole afternoon may have even been spent cuddling in our bed watching it rain.

We had a good trip over to New Orleans with average traffic, but the kids remained pretty happy.  Once we got checked into the hotel, we did a quick wardrobe change and headed to the races.  Jackson absolutely loved seeing the horses and had large time "betting" with his daddy.  Mattie slept most of the evening in her car seat, allowing us to socialize a bit with Mr.'s co-workers.

Come Saturday morning I pretty much felt like death.  Mr. headed to the drug store and picked up plenty of Kleenex and found some sinus medicine I could take while nursing.  We tried to make the best of the rainy day.  We strolled through the city and grabbed some lunch and then headed to the Aquarium.  Again, Jackson loved seeing the animals and cruised through each exihbit!

Our original plan was to take the family out for a nice dinner on Saturday night...but after long afternoon naps we opted for a quick bite to eat and FroYo instead.  We all slept great that night, minus the coughing and sniffles.

We packed up Sunday morning, did a little shopping, grabbed lunch and headed home to the urgent care for meds to kick our sinus infections.  The best part of the entire weekend is that we managed to keep our little's healthy and sinus infection free:)

Two Thumbs Up!

>> Friday, May 10, 2013

After a long six weeks, Jackson's doctor gave the thumbs up to remove his cast. Truth be told, this was actually his second cast.  About two weeks ago Action Jackson managed to break his first cast.  Yes, my son not only managed to break his elbow, but a cast too! I'm pretty sure every ER from here to Kingdom Come will know us by name:)

I was pretty thankful when his cast basically disintegrated around his hand, making it necessary for a new one.  Cause let me tell you, after only four weeks it stunk to high heavens! It was covered in grass stains, play-doh, cookie icing, mud, dirt...need I go on? Why has no one invented a cast cover or cleaner?

Jackson handled the cast with such grace the entire six weeks.  He never once complained about it itching or stinking or scratching his nose when tried to wipe his face with his "cast arm".  He grabbed a trash bag every night before his bath and reminded me to cover his arm.  So, we did a little dance before our last trash-bag-bath!  And I surely celebrated being able to wash his filthy hand immediately after it came off:)

This boy teaches me new lessons about life everyday!
Waiting on the doctor to read his x-rays!
Doc said all is healing well, cast can come off:)
Thumbs up dude, double thumbs up!
