Jackson sat up today and Christine was able to capture it on camera for us! How about this for a 15 week picture:)

One year ago this weekend Mr. Wilson and I met up with my sister and brother-in-law for the LSU @ Auburn game... little did we know that we'd be on our way to baby Wilson in the next short weeks. It's amazing what a difference a year can make.

3 month Checkup
>> Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Jackson had his 3 month check up this morning and according to the doctor "he's very advanced for his age". He's in the 75th percentile for his height, weight and head circumference - 14.09lbs., 24", 16" - one chunky monkey with lots of rolls to squeeze and love on! Dr. N was amazed with how strong he is and how interactive he was with me. Jackson pushes up to scoot when he's on his tummy and will stand if you hold his hands. Mr. Wilson thinks he's a linebacker in the making for sure:) Dr. N also said he wouldn't be surprised if Jackson starts to crawl very soon, I don't think I'm quite ready for a mobile baby yet!
Jackson was vaccinated for pneumonia today and hardly cried at all. He let out a little scream when the nurse was putting his band aide on, but within seconds he was all smiles and laughs.
So doctors orders are to keep doing everything that we're doing!

Geaux Tigers!
>> Tuesday, September 15, 2009
Saturday night the Tigers took on Vanderbilt in Death Valley and Jackson was there to see it! The weather was pretty gross so my brothers drove up with Jackson and me Saturday afternoon since Mr. Wilson and his krewe left at sunrise. Jackson did awesome at the tailgate and even went into the game for the first half with Mr. Wilson - they were only supposed to go in for kickoff so that Jackson and I could get back on the road and home before bedtime, but in Mr. Wilson's excitement he forgot all about that! I was not a happy momma, and was soaked. Luckily for Mr. Wilson's sake he brought me back a dry baby, Jackson slept under his poncho during the game. It was so nice to see all of our tailgating friends and introduce our son to them all. This was a day I prayed very hard for this time last year. We are truly blessed to have such a happy and healthy baby boy.

Sweet Boy

Jackson was in such a great mood last night, here are a couple of videos before bath time. Please excuse my annoyingly high pitched voice, oh the things you do to make your kids babble with you:)
3 months

How is it that my sweet, tiny, newborn is now a smiling, cooing, drooling, rolling big boy?!? I am not sure where the time has gone. Mrs. Brummett always tells me how sad she is that she doesn't remember the first month of her girls' lives. I sadly understand what she means now - It all went by so fast. But, the older Jackson gets the easier things are and my love for him is completely indescribable. The most rewarding thing in the world is when he looks at me and smiles. His smile lights up the room and truly melts my heart!
At 3 months Jackson is still sleeping for about 5-7 hours, eats and then sleeps for another 3-4 hours. We're up somewhere between 2-3AM, so I'm not really sure why the books define sleeping through the night a 6+ hours. Jackson rolls from his tummy to his back, and it trying really hard to go from his back to tummy. He is cooing and babbling like crazy, it is the cutest thing ever. Jackson has really started to get into his Baby Einsteins, he's in his swing babbling up a storm to one right now:) He also found his thumb, Christine caught it on camera for the first time. We go to the doctor next week, and I can't wait to see how he is on the charts this month. He has grown so much. I am sure teething is going to be in our not so distant future, Jackson is drooling and blowing bubbles all of the time!
New Mommy Must Haves
>> Tuesday, September 8, 2009
Before I had Jackson I polled all of my mommy friends about their must haves, please refer back to this post. Now that Jackson is three months old I have quite a list of my own favorite things. I thought this would be useful to my mommy-to-be readers. Please feel free to add your favorite things in the comments.
For the new mommy:
Pads
You'll need more than you think. I didn't anticipate bleeding for so long.
Dermoplast
This helps with the bottom pain for the first couple of weeks.
Breast Feeding:
Hooter Hider
Breast feeding can be very isolating, but with my hider I am able to nurse anywhere and be comfortable.
Lansinoh breast cream
This helps with nipple pain in the beginning from nursing. I used it before and after I nursed in the beginning. I had to use it again when I started to pump, but only for a few days.
Hydrogel Pads
These were great in the beginning as well.
Lillypads
I hate breast pads, but I found that these were the most discrete.
Nursing tank top
I wear a tank almost everyday. Its great to sleep in and wear under your shirt. It also helps hide your loose skin!
Sleep bra
Nursing bra
* I made the mistake of buying my bras before I had the baby and I was a 40D. But,not long after I had the baby I was a 36B-C...so my bras didn't fit. Also, I wouldn't buy a padded bra. When you fold the cup down to nurse it constantly pops up on the baby's face.
Diapering:
Camden Diaper bag
Diaper caddy
This is great for bath time and in the beginning when the baby is in your room. Its also great to keep one at Grandma's house!
Extra diaper pad covers
We go through about two a day, depending on how many times a day Dad changes him. Jackson likes to pee on his Daddy:)
Lansinoh - wipes and diaper rash ointment
Breast feed babies tend to have more acidic poop. I tried the sensitive wipes and they were even worse on Jackson's butt. The Lansinoh wipes are especially for breast fed babies. You can only find these at Target and Babies R Us, they are with the breast feeding accessories.
Pamper Swaddlers work best for us.
Bathing:
Bath tub with sling
I have the bath chair as well, but I find that it is so much easier to bath in the sink.
Hooded towels and wash cloths.
I love these!
We started out using Johnson baby products, but Jackson has sensitive skin and we now use Aveeno products.
Sleeping:
Boppy newborn lounger
We kept this in Jackson's cradle for the first few weeks. He needed to be vibrated all the time so we put the vibration soother in the bottom of it. When he started to fuss, the noise activator would start the vibration. We also used the heartbeat sound on the crib - see baby soother below.
Baby soother
Sleep sheep
We keep this in Jackson's crib. I found that the ocean noise works best.
Infant positioner
We still use this in Jackson's crib.
Other:
Best blanket
Boppy chair
Jackson needs to vibrate!
Bottles - I'm still breast feeding, so Jackson gets three bottles a day. We found that the platex bottles work best for us. I have a crap load of them, but my sitter only uses one bottle a day and washes the nipple in between feedings. If you can, borrow a few different bottles to see what kind/brand works best for you and baby - then buy a few of that one.
Pacifier - we use the hospital pacifier. The lactation nurse told me that whatever the pacifier nipple looked like, my nipple would end up looking the same... so be mindful of that when you are trying out different pacifiers!
ITZBEEN - I almost forgot to add this! I am so lost without it, it is a total must have. It was so hard for me to keep track of feeding times in the beginning and now that I'm back at work its great for the transition between our sitter and us.
Camera - Canon Rebel
A good camera is a must. We didn't have this in the beginning and I totally regret that!
Baby Bliss Gripe Water
I found that this works best for gas, hiccups, fussiness and upset tummy. The others constipated Jackson.
I went with the Chico travel system and am really happy with it. I found it to be the most recommended car seat when I asked all of my mommy friends.
I never used my boppy pillow, but some people love them. Jackson will only nurse in the football position. Try all of the positions and see what works best for you, the cross cradle position didn't work at all for us.
I hope you or someone you know finds this list to be helpful. If you have anything to add, please leave a comment!
Football Season is here!
There is something about the smell of stinky football pads, the sound of pom poms swishing together, the lights that illuminate the sky and the sound of the band marching on the fresh cut grass that makes me smile. Having been a cheerleader in both high school and college, I have such great memories of football seasons. I love knowing that fall is almost here and I love that we get to introduce Jackson to the great Southern tradition that is football!
We kicked off football season Thursday night at a friend's house. The girls with our boys:
Friday night we went to cheer on my little brother at his high school game:
And Saturday we cheered the Tigers on to victory against Washington. We are looking forward to taking Jackson out to Death Valley on Saturday night! Geaux Tigers!!!
