Music to our ears

>> Friday, December 12, 2008

I had another doctor's appointment yesterday, 10 weeks and 4 days, we heard baby Wilson's heartbeat. The heartbeat sounded very fast, it wasn't strong enough for the Doppler to pick up the exact bpm. My doctor said it was about 170 bpm, he's been doing this for quite a while, so I guess we'll go with his instinct:)

Everything is going well, I am a little anemic so I started taking medicine for that last night. We are looking forward to a quiet weekend!

Let it snow!

>> Thursday, December 11, 2008

As many of you know, I am a Midwestern girl transplanted to South Louisiana almost 5 years ago. I absolutely love the South, but it is very hard to get in the holiday spirit when it's 70 degrees outside. Last night was the coldest night I have ever experienced since living down here. Mr. Wilson and I laid on the couch and had a warm, toasty fire. Before we went to bed I told him how I wish that just once I could wake up and see our rooftop covered in snow. There is nothing more beautiful to me!

Well, this morning Mr. Wilson came running into the bedroom (I need a lot of sleep and Mr. Wilson does not) and told me to get my butt out of bed. For this first time in 5 years, I woke up to snow covering the rooftops - and my poor daisies! They say this hasn't happened in South Louisiana in quite some time:)

The neighborhood was so fun this morning, we all gathered on our driveways taking pictures in our pajamas. There were even a few snowball thrown!

I love Pottery Barn!

>> Tuesday, December 9, 2008

I know it is really early to purchase a crib, but when you find a deal this good you have to take it! When we were in St. Louis after Thanksgiving we went into Pottery Barn Kids. In the middle of the show floor was one of the cribs I had been looking at. I went over to take a closer look with my mom and sister - and totally imagined baby Wilson in it. We all fell in love with it. My mom asked how much it was, and I of course said, way too much! I looked at the price tag to confirm and to my surprise, it was on sale for almost 1/2 price. Well to make a long story short, I didn't think it was such a good idea to buy a crib so early, so I didn't get it.

I took a little break from work today to check out Pottery Barn Kids and baby Wilson's crib was no longer available - oh no! I immediately called the store in St. Louis and worked with a lovely lady there for about an hour. They found a crib in the warehouse for me, and it will be here on the 16th. Again, I know it is too early to order nursery furniture, but I'm so excited that we were able to get baby Wilson's perfect crib!

Here is a picture of the crib, I ordered it in the espresso finish. I was also able to get an awesome deal on a side table in the same finish. I will order the matching dresser/changing table this Spring - they are ordering more in March, so there is no worry of it not being available:)

Ho Ho Ho!

>> Monday, December 8, 2008

Its finally starting to look like Christmas around the Wilson's. Friday night I had a sudden burst of energy and cleaned the whole house. Saturday morning I woke up and felt like a new woman - so the tree and holiday decorations went up. Sunday Mr. Wilson made me breakfast in bed, and then I napped on the couch until noon. I again awoke feeling great, so we did all of our Christmas shopping! I even got a few things wrapped last night when we got home! All I have left is a few online orders and we'll be good to go. With 4 sets of parents, too many siblings to count and 6 nieces and nephews - our list is quite large!

Here are some pictures of the tree and my favorite table decor yet. Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving

>> Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Mr. Wilson and I have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We are thankful for our health, jobs, our love and our friends & family. Baby Wilson is doing good and besides being extremely tired and a little nauseous here and there I am doing great.

I had my first appointment with my OB last week, it was pretty uneventful. He didn't listen for the heartbeat, I was a little disappointed about that. However, they took about a gallon of blood and said they'd see me again December 11th.

We are heading to St. Louis after lunch tomorrow to spend the long weekend with my sister and my dad. I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!

114 bpm!

>> Tuesday, November 11, 2008

I had my first ultrasound yesterday which made my pregnancy feel so much more real. I really do have a tiny little human growing inside of me! Baby Wilson is 3.7mm and it's heart was beating at 114 beats per minute.

We really weren't expecting to hear the heartbeat so soon, but it was a nice surprise! Wonderful Dr. S said that this pregnancy is no more high risk than any other "normal" pregnancy, so I was release to go back to my ob/gyn.

So far I haven't had any morning sickness. There aren't enough hours in the day for me to sleep though. The ultrasound also showed that my ovaries are the size of grapefruit, which is causing some horrible back pain... that will all be worth it in the end!

Mr. Wilson and I feel so blessed. We have an amazing support group of friends and family that we cannot wait to share baby Wilson with!

Life and Death

>> Thursday, November 6, 2008

Sunday, November 2nd our newest nephew, Clayton Manuel Randolph, was welcomed into the world. He is so precious and looks like a little old man. My sister in law, Mrs. Randolph, was such a trooper. She went from 2cm to 8cm in one hour! Her little frame was just too small for Clayton's big head, so she ended up having a c-section Sunday evening. We were so thankful to be with the Randolph's during this special time in their lives.

Wednesday, November 5th Mr. Wilson's grandmother, Mema, passed away. She was in a lot of pain, so we are thankful that she is in a better place now. Mema was a ball of fire that will be greatly missed. She was surrounded by love, even in her final hours. Mr. Wilson, his mother, his stepfather and I were all with her when she passed.

Beta #2

>> Monday, October 27, 2008

I had my second beta today and it was 196. The nurse said that everything looked really good, so I will go back Nov 10th for our first ultrasound.

I feel pretty good, just a little tired! My mom is doing a great job of making sure I don't over do it though:)

Baby makes 3

>> Thursday, October 23, 2008

I am totally shaking right now, the doctor's office just called and confirmed that we are pregnant!!! I have been testing, and they were all negative until this morning. I went in for a blood test to confirm the test, and yes indeed I am expecting.

The nurse said my level was low, only a 30, but they aren't concerned because I am only 11 days past ovulation. I go back on Monday to make sure the level increased. Until then, I am praying for a happy and healthy nine months. Baby Wilson should be here around July 4th!

I must say that I couldn't have gone through all of this without the special help of Mrs. B and Mrs. M. They are the best!!!

Much love!
Mommy Wilson

One week down, one more to go

>> Friday, October 17, 2008

One week of my two week wait is finally over. This has been the longest week ever, and I am sure next week is going to be even worse! The bloating has finally gone down a little, at least I am comfortable.

Last Friday I did my trigger shot, so my doctor said that I can test next Friday... let's see if I last that long. I know that I will risk getting a false positive, but sometimes a girl just has to pee on a stick:)

We are hosting an LSU themed couples baby shower for our dear friends this weekend. They are expecting twin girls this winter. Next weekend we have friends coming in from New York, and the weekend after that my dad is coming down for a visit. We have a busy month ahead of us!

The 2 week wait

>> Monday, October 13, 2008

I have started the 2ww and am hoping the time passes by very fast!

At my ultrasound last Thursday and had one 18mm, one 17mm, and lots of 14mm follicles. My lining was 8.6, which they said was very good. Dr. S. had me do a 6th night of the Follistim to let my follicles get a little bigger (they need to be 18mm). I did my HCG trigger shot Friday night, ouch!!! I'll test next Friday and if it's positive I'll go in for a blood test to confirm. And if it's negative we will start another cycle.

I feel pretty good, but I am dying to know what is going on inside my body. I am amazed at how bloated I am, hopefully it is all worth it!

Mrs. B and her twins came to visit this weekend. It was so fun to have babies in the house, and my parents had way too much fun playing grandparents for a night.

Here are some pictures of the great weekend!

One shot down...

>> Sunday, October 5, 2008

Last night was my first follistim shot, and it really wasn't bad at all! I think I pinched the skin on my tummy way too hard because that was the only part that hurt.

I am off to Destin tomorrow through Wednesday to pitch a new account. I am hoping a couple of days at the beach will keep me nice and relaxed so my follicles can grow. Thursday morning is my next ultrasound. Hopefully I will be ready for my HCG shot.

Mrs. B and the babies are coming in for a long weekend, and we couldn't be more excited.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Starting Fresh

>> Tuesday, September 30, 2008

This will be our new cycle #1. I think this is appropriate because we deserve a fresh start with Dr. S. I am going to put the months of Clomid and unbearable hot flashes and bloat in the past!

My blood tests and ultra sounds were completely normal. Today is CD3 and my E2 was 83, FSH was a 6 and my ultra sound (which was pretty neat) looked "beautiful".

I will be traveling out of town for business next week, so our plan has been altered a little. We will start treatment on CD 5, not today. Our new calendar looks like this:

CD 5: Femara - 25 mg. Take 10 pills at bedtime
CD 7-11: Folistim 75iu x 5 nights.
CD 12: Check E2, LH, P4 and another ultra sound. Depending on how everything looks, I will most likely to a HCG shot and we'll go from there.

I was really nervous about all of the shots, but the nurse talked me through everything and I don't think it will be too bad. I'll let you know how Saturday night goes!

If I had a dollar...

>> Monday, September 29, 2008

If I had a dollar for every time we were asked if I was expecting this weekend, we would be rich! I had a lot of anxiety leading up to this weekend. Saturday was the first home game tailgate of the LSU season for me. We are really close with the people we tailgate with, but we are all spread around the state and only see each for the 6-7 home games every year.

I knew that people would ask, but you would think as I stood with a beer in my hand people would get the hint that I wasn't pregnant. Instead, it was just the opposite. It was like they couldn't wait to run up to me and touch my tummy and ask if I was with child - I did have a little PMS bloat. I just hope that we will have good news to share before the season is over.

Mr. Wilson was really great all day, he would quickly come to my rescue and tell people we were just having fun practicing. A couple of the older men told Mr. Wilson how wonderful children are and how much fun it will be to bring your son to his first game. Mr. Wilson is going to be such a great daddy.

I will go tomorrow for my base line blood test and ultrasound. Dr. S. does want Mr. Wilson to do a SA so he knows exactly what he has to work with. Mr. Wilson is being such a champ about that, I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband.

Change of plans

>> Thursday, September 25, 2008

Dr. S's nurse called back this afternoon with my blood test results. She said that it looked like my levels were leaning more towards POF (Premature Ovarian Failure). I need to go back in on CD 3, which should be Monday to have my levels rechecked before we move forward with any sort of treatment.

I do feel like my bubble has been burst, I was looking forward to starting our treatment on Monday.

I'm in L-O-V-E with my RE!

>> Wednesday, September 24, 2008

I had butterflies in my stomach all morning. I had a lot of anxiety about our appointment with Dr. S. this afternoon. I don't think it helped that Mr. Wilson and I are both having very hectic work week. When we sat down in the waiting room Mr. Wilson's pants got caught on the chair and his pocket ripped open... I thought it was pretty funny, but he saw no humor in it at all!

We were called to the back and asked a few questions by a nurse. I was really happy to know that I haven't gained a pound. I guess I feel a lot more bloated than the scale can tell. The nurse gave us a lot of information, took our picture (so they can learn us by name) then showed us into Dr. S's office. His office was totally decked out in LSU gear. This put Mr. Wilson at such ease and we totally fell in love with Dr. S as soon as he walked in.

He had reviewed all of my medical history and test results from my ob/gyn. He had a pretty good idea as to what he felt was my issue. He walked us through the possibilities for our infertility and the treatment cycle he would like to try. We will know more tomorrow, once my FSH and LH levels come in, but it looks like I have some sort of issue with my Pituitary. If my blood work confirms Dr. S's initial thoughts, I will follow this treatment cycle.

Day 1 - start period. This should happen on Saturday.
Day 3 - Base line ultrasound and blood tests.
Start Menopur injections, I have to give my self a shot every day through day 11.
Day 5 - Ultrasound and blood tests.
Day 11 - Ultrasound and blood tests. hCG Injection
Day 13-14 - Timed Intercourse
Day 28 - Pregnancy Test

If this cycle works for us, we are looking at a 4th of July baby Wilson!!!

I am more than excited and feel like we are finally headed in the right direction. Mr. W is a little upset that we waited so long to go to a RE. I truly believe that timing is everything, and there is a reason that God had us wait and stick it out with my ob/gym until now. I have a great feeling about this, and I am more than thrilled about not having to take Clomid ever again!

We have an earlier appointment!

>> Monday, September 22, 2008

My doctor's office called this morning and they were able to get an earlier appointment with the RE for me on Wednesday! We are super excited and feel very positive that we will have some answers very soon. I am so happy that we don't have to wait until December anymore!

Our weekend was awesome, the weather was beautiful and the game was great!

CD 21 - Progesterone Level 0.8

>> Friday, September 19, 2008

It's no surprise, my blood work results came in and my progesterone level was 0.8 AGAIN. I really thought that my level would increase with the higher dose of Clomid. The nurse is calling the specialist's office on Monday to get me in to see him asap. I finally feel like the right actions are taking place! I will start progesterone tonight.

On a side note, I am really excited for this weekend. We are meeting my sister and her husband at Auburn for the LSU game tomorrow. It should be a great time with even better company!

Trying to stay positive

>> Monday, September 15, 2008

I am really trying to stay positive, but I doesn't look like I am going to ovulate this month (or ever). After seeing all of our great swimmers last week it makes me so sad that my body won't give them an egg.

I am not sure if the hormones just have the best of me or what. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, but having a baby wasn't supposed to be like this. I guess I need to listen to Mrs. M, nothing easy is ever good and nothing good is ever easy!

Yesterday was my sister in laws baby shower. I was asked a few times when I was going to start popping babies out. I was also told twice that I better be pregnant next. I just smiled politely and said hopefully soon and yes ma'am.

The weekend started out great, my temp spiked to 97.9 on Saturday... but today it was back to 97.2 - so no ovulation. This is my last Clomid cycle with my ob/gyn. My appointment with the specialist isn't until Dec 1st. It is going to be a long fall.

Lots of Little Swimmers!

>> Wednesday, September 10, 2008

I had my mid cycle check up today. The doctor was so impressed by all of Mr. Wilson's little swimmers he had me come and take a look at them. "Your husband should be very proud of himself," Dr. F. There were tons of them on the slide, just swimming away!

Dr. F. also checked my ovaries and said that my right ovary felt very promising. He said he felt a nice little follicle. I will go back next Wednesday for blood work to see how my progesterone levels are and if I ovulated!

Diaper Cake

Thanks to this link I was able to put together a pretty cute diaper cake for my sister in law's baby shower this weekend. I am not the most creative person in the world, so I was pretty impressed with my creation. I only wish I would have tried this about 4 months ago for my best friend's shower!

On a side note, Gustav must have blown something in the air. My sinus are a mess and I am not feeling too hot.

Only two more days...

The Clomid hasn't been too bad yet, although I had the worst headache I've ever had last night. This cycle I have been taking the pills in the evening which has helped a little especially with the hot flashes.

A good friend of mine, Mrs. M, recently pointed out just how much of an obsessive control freak I am. I really can't say that I disagree. I am a total control freak so I guess this is preparing me for parenthood - I can't control everything!

Attitude

>> Tuesday, August 26, 2008

A great friend emailed this quote out this morning.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company…a church….a home, or an individual. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you….we are in charge of our attitudes.”
